Deer Ticks Bite Pets

Pets like to interact with wild animals, lizards and even stray dogs and cats; but aside from personal differences, wildlife can harm domestic animals in other ways.
Wildlife, such as white-tailed deer, can carry ticks with tick-borne diseases; and when deer walk onto properties, there is a chance that deer ticks can drop onto pets and bite a dog or cat. Lyme Disease is not the only tick disease that pets can get. They are also prone to Rocky Mountain Spotted Fever, Ehrlichiosis, Anaplasmosis and Babesiosis. This is why pet owners need to take the necessary precautions to protect pets from tick bites.
Pet fencing is a must to keep out wildlife. The daily news reports dog attacks by coyotes, bears and even homeless cats; but hardly ever about dog ticks. With the use of a dog fence, pets can play with each other without interacting with external predators that may try to harm the pets in more ways than one.
