Horses are beautiful moving animals; and because we love our little ponies, we want to protect them around a fence that will keep them secure. 

The most common type of fence for horses is an electric fence; and there are several types of electric fencing for pastures. For horse management, it's best to choose an electrified fence with poly tape or poly rope. Both types of electric wire are recommended for horses because they are easily visible. Horses have poor vision; and they will be able to see the thick, often bright, strands (braids) of electric wire before they get shocked. 

While poly wire is a great choice for cattle and other slower-moving animals, it should not be a permanent solution for horses.
