When we see wild animals, it may cross our mind that they are hungry and are looking for shelter. But, we must re-frame from thinking this way about white-tailed deer.

Deer are like stray cats; and when we feed them, they know that if they come back to the same area, then they will get fed once again. It's not stubborn or lazy - but smart for deer. And, although seeing a deer may seem magical at first, they will destroy gardens once gardeners let their guards down.

If you feel inclined to feed plants to deer, make sure you do it from outside of your garden fence. This will protect the plants you want to keep while helping out deer.
