Perennials to plant in June: Shasta Daisy Ornamental Grass Butterfly Bush Echinacea Hydrangea Black Eyed Susan* Perennial Phlox Hibiscus* Violas Geraniums* Poppie |
Having a vast array of vibrant perennial flowers in a garden can turn boring looking flowerbeds into colorful works of art.
Many gardeners choose to plant perennial plants because they return each year; and while basic maintenance is required for ensuring that they do bloom, gardeners can always rely on perennial plants to keep deer at bay.
Planting Perennials for Deer Management
Deer can be picky eaters; and there are certain plants that they do not prefer eating over others. Some perennial plants can rid deer from gardens; and should be used as a secondary barrier around garden fencing to keep away deer from fruits and vegetables. Whitetails usually stay clear of Black-eyed Susan, Hibiscus, Geraniums and other types of strong-scented plants.
As a primary barrier, home growers should build a 7.5-8' high deer fence to keep all forms of wildlife off landscapes.
