The first full week of November is declared to be National Animal Shelter Appreciation Week, a dedicated week to thank the hardworking staff at animal rescues that care for stray and abandoned companion animals. This week is in conjunction with ASPCA's Adopt a Senior Dog Month to urge prospective pet owners to adopt older dogs to end the risk of euthanization. 

Each year, approximately 1.5 million shelter animals are euthanized (670,000 dogs and 860,000 cats). Let's bring that number to zero! Consider dog and cat adoption from local animal rescues to give dogs and cats a second chance at finding a forever home.
