It's Back To School Month!

Sorry, kiddos; but August is declared to be Back To School Month; and now that kids are preparing to go back to classrooms, teachers are encouraged to incorporate agriculture into their teaching plans.
There are many reasons to start a school garden program for young kids. For one, school gardens do not have to be huge. They can be held on small plots of land that show kids how to begin a garden and maintain it - from digging dirt and adding fertilizer to planting flowers; veggies and fruits.
Kids need to learn how food gets from ground to plate. They need to understand that while food can be purchased at local grocery stores, that is not where the food started.
Kids need time outside and an interactive way to work together. Through gardening, kids can see their hard work come to life from conception.
For school garden program managers that wish to add deer fencing around school gardens, Deerbusters will give them added discounts throughout the month of August.
